Dorothy Zbornak
Dorothy Zbornak (Bea Arthur) is a substitute teacher from Brooklyn, New York City with Sicilian immigrant parents Sophia and Salvadore Petrillo. Dorothy was married Stanley Zbornak (Herb Edelman) for 38 years after having a baby in high school (Michael), and later had a daughter Kate. Stan and Dorothy moved to Miami and later divorced as Stan ran off with a young flight attendant. The marriage produced two children, In the series' finale, Dorothy married Blanche's uncle, Lucas Hollingsworth, and moves to Atlanta.
Blanche Devereaux
Blanche Devereaux (Rue McClanahan) is a wealthy Southern belle who works an art museum who grew up spoiled and wealthy on her daddy's plantation outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to Miami and married George, and they had two daughters, Janet and Rebecca, and four sons: Doug, Biff, Skippy, and Matthew. She was eventually widowed, and evolved into a man-hungry bachelorette with many male admirers, and overly detailed stories of her romps and desires.
